The 2016 Europe Tour is Now Underway!

The MountainTop Strings of California took its second tour after a truly memorable experience in 2013.

After a wild ride that included flight delays, lost luggage and an impromptu concert at LAX that was aired by ABC7,  traveling musicians ages 12 -17 performed in some of the most ancient and beautiful venues in the Italian cities of Rome, Lucca and Venice from June 24-July 5, 2016. An optional 3 day excursion was enjoyed by many, which included climbing aboard the Allegro Don Giovanni train through the alps to spend some time in Salzburg Austria, the City of Mozart.

Over the course of the 12 days in Italy, our musicians visited Cremona, the City of Violin making to see violin makers at work, and heard the finest violins in the world made by the famous Italian violin maker, Antonio Stradivari. In Venice, they saw a live concert of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons by an authentic Venetian orchestra. A two-day visit was made to Verona, the City of Romeo and Juliet, where music students took a break from concertizing and witnessed a performance in the Arena di Verona, Italy’s second largest coliseum, which is over 2,000 years old. In Lucca, the group had time for sightseeing, bike trips and a scheduled workshop in Boccherini. They have since been invited back to Lucca to perform in the Boccherini Open Concert Series in October of 2017.
